Chivas Regal Mizunara

Chivas Regal Mizunara is a blended Scotch whisky from the house of Chivas Regal, one of the world’s most premium and luxury brand of blended Scotch whiskies. The Chivas Mizunara is a no-age-statement whisky and was first released in Japan in 2014, eventually being released worldwide.

It has been described by the brand as the conflation of two great cultures, and disciplines achieving the perfect equilibrium in the art of whisky-making.

History

Few brands match the rich history and illustrious success enjoyed by Chivas Regal since the brand’s inception in 1801 as a grocery store that broke ground under the leadership of James and John, the Chivas Brothers.

The Chivas Brothers had forayed into the world of whisky blending and earned one of their greatest achievements by 1843 when Queen Victoria granted them a Royal Warrant in 1843. The first two proprietary blends from the house of Chivas Regal were called the Royal Glen Dee, and the Royal Stathythan.

By the turn of the century, the Chivas Brothers produced the world’s first luxury whisky as they released the Chivas Regal 25 in 1909 which became an instant hit not just in their homeland, but also overseas, capturing the loyalties of the American elite.

Over the years, the Chivas Regal brand developed a core range with expressions ranging from 12-years, to 25-years, and some truly breathtaking innovations in the world of blended Scotch whisky such as the Chivas Regal Ultis, Chivas Regal The Icon, and the most recent, Chivas Regal Mizunara.

First released in Japan, the Chivas Mizunara was released worldwide following rave reviews from whisky experts and lovers who praised the whisky for its distinct identity and tasting notes.

Making Process

Chivas Mizunara pays its respects to the famed precision and unique techniques adopted by the Japanese whisky-makers. It is produced by selectively aging a significant fraction of the premium Chivas Regal blend in Japanese Mizunara oak barrels, an extremely rare and expensive form of timber used for making whisky barrels.

The porous nature of the Japanese Mizunara oak allows the whisky to generously borrow the unique flavors from the barrels, and gives the wood a greater influence on the whisky.

Alcohol Percentage

The Chivas Regal Mizunara carries an alcohol strength of 40% ABV, the permissible limit for Scotch whiskies as per the legal definition.
