The Glenlivet XXV

The Glenlivet XXV

The Glenlivet XXV is a 25-Year-Old single malt Scotch whisky, the oldest expression from iconic Speyside distillery’s core inventory, and belongs to the super premium segment.

The Glenlivet XXV is one of the brand’s most acclaimed and awarded single malts ever, while the Glenlivet Whisky brand itself is one of the world’s highest selling single malt Scotch whiskies, and the number one malt whisky in the United States of America.

History of Glenlivet 25

In 1822, founder George Smith was beginning to perfect his craft and the brand that would go on to become The Glenlivet, the ‘single malt that started it all’. One of the many illicit distilleries located in the luscious Speyside, George Smith’s The Glenlivet Distillery was the first to push for, and obtain a legal permit to distill whisky.

He was faced with threats to his life and the distillery he worked so hard to build, but never gave in to those threats. Instead, George Smith chose to carry two pistols with him at all times, enabling himself to protect himself and the distillery.

Upon obtaining the license to distill the infamous ‘single malt that started it all’, George Smith ran the business successfully until his demise in 1871 whereupon his son, John Gordon Smith inherited the distillery.

The Glenlivet Distillery was among the very few distilleries that survived the Great Depression and remained functional throughout the period, only briefly suffering closure during the World War II.

An overwhelming success enjoyed by The Glenlivet brand name inspired other neighboring distilleries to take undue advantage of the brand name, and use it to market their own whisky. Legal action allowed John Gordon Smith to put an end to this practice and retain the sole ownership of The Glenlivet name.

The Glenlivet XXV is one of the brand’s most premium single malt whiskies, and was created as a single malt Scotch that is the perfect commemorative drink for occasions that are truly memorable and once-in-a-lifetime. The brand has more iconic whiskies such as the Glenlivet Founders Reserve 1824, Glenlivet 12 Year, Glenlivet 21 Year and the Glenlivet 18.

Making Process of Glenlivet 25

The Glenlivet XXV is distilled at the brand’s historic Speyside distillery where is also matured and bottled. It is a batch produced single malt which entails the blending of aged spirit from a select number of barrels to produce the perfect and desired result.

The exceptional spirit is aged for 25 years before it is finished in rare ex-Oloroso Sherry butts that allow the whisky to absorb the richness of flavors and aromas from the elegant timber.
