Jameson 18-Year-Old Limited Reserve

Jameson 18-Year-Old Limited Reserve

Jameson 18-Year-Old Limited Reserve is a blended Irish whiskey from the house of Jameson Whiskey, one of the oldest and the most widely sold Irish Whiskey around the world.

It is one of the few rare releases from Jameson that also carries an age-statement, and also carries the signature Jameson smoothness owing to the brand’s triple distillation process, and has also been matured in two different types of barrels.

History of Jameson 18

The history of Jameson begins in 1780 when the brand was established in the city of Dublin by John Jameson, ironically a Scottish immigrant to Ireland. He was married to the daughter of John Haig, a well-known Scotch whisky distiller in Scotland.

John Jameson began distilling whiskey Bow Street in Dublin in 1780, after moving to the city in 1774. He was soon joined by his son, John Jameson II in 1805 and the father-son duo managed to register significant success for the Jameson brand.

After his father’s demise, John Jameson II ran the distillery for 41 years, handing over the ownership of the distillery to his son, John Jameson III in 1851.

The next generations of the Jameson family split up and one started their own distilling operation in Marrowbone Lane whereas another continued to distill out of the Bow Street Distillery in Dublin.

In 1966, the establishment of the Irish Distillers Group was created when Jameson joined hands with other Irish distillers namely Cork Distillers and John Powers to gain a perceived monopoly over the Irish whiskey production. The Irish Distillers Group was also joined by Bushmills in 1972.

Today, the brand is distributed in over 122 countries worldwide, and much of their whiskey is distilled at the New Midleton Distillery situated near Cork. Increased production and the alleviation of other issues that plagued production and supply of Irish whiskey to other parts of the world has helped Jameson regain the popularity it once enjoyed.

Some of the most famous whiskies from the Jameson brand are The Original Jameson, Jameson 12 and Jameson Caskmates.

Making Process of Jameson 18

An excellent expression from Jameson, the 18-Year-Old Limited Reserve is a delightful blend of two of the finest pot-still whiskeys and a single grain whiskey.

The source whiskies used for this blend have been matured in Oloroso Sherry barrels, and ex-Bourbon barrels before being married by the Master Blender.

The blended spirit is then finished in carefully handpicked first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels from the Master Distiller himself. Every single bottle of the Jameson 18-Year-Old Limited Reserve has been individually numbered by the brand, and is one of the rarest Jameson expressions released by the Irish whiskey making behemoths.

Alcohol Percentage of Jameson 18
