Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition

Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition

Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is an excellent Irish whiskey expression from the Jameson Whiskey brand, considered one of the oldest and quintessential Irish whiskey brands in the world. It is also the most widely sold Irish whiskey brand worldwide with availability in as many as 130 markets.

Adding an entirely new repertoire of flavors to the standard Jameson Irish whiskey, the ex-Stout barrels used to age the Jameson spirit opened up the floodgates for creativity and innovation that pleasantly surprised whiskey drinkers worldwide.

History

The Jameson brand is older than many whiskey makers, not just in Ireland but the rest of the world too. It was established by John Jameson when he arrived in the city of Dublin in 1780 when the Irish dominated the whiskey world, and he ran the business successfully until he was joined by his son, John Jameson II.

John Jameson II persevered to take Jameson to new heights for nearly 41 years before handing over the reins of the company to his son, John Jameson III in 1851. Further generations of the Jameson family too joined the business in the future, and by the end of the 1800s, Jameson was the second largest distillery in Ireland, and one of the behemoths of whiskey making globally. The Jameson Original Irish Whiskey attained great heights in the global market.

The brand has survived a number of challenging factors including two World Wars, the Irish Civil War and even American Prohibition.

Jameson whiskies have always been blended Irish whiskeys matured for a minimum period of 3 years, boasting an impeccable smooth and light palate due to the triple distillation process involved in the making of their whiskey.

Making Process

The Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition was birthed out of an experiment after a conversation between the Master Distiller at Jameson was convinced by the Master Brewer at the Franciscan Well craft brewery.

The Master Brewer requested Jameson barrels to ferment their stout, and the Jameson Master Distiller obliged. Although once he received the barrels back, the Master Distiller felt compelled to experiment by aging Jameson Irish whiskey in the ex-Stout barrels.

The resulting product was a terrific Irish whiskey with an infusion of new flavors that worked in perfect harmony with Jameson’s triple distilled smoothness. A number of brands have experimented with ex-Stout or ex-Beer barrels to age their whiskey although this is the first time an Irish whiskey maker has carried it out.

Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is one of the fairly newer introductions in the Jameson family, and was met with appreciation and acclaim when it was first released.

Alcohol Percentage

The Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition carries an alcohol strength of 40% ABV.
