Kavalan Classic Single Malt Whisky

Kavalan Classic is a no-age-statement single malt whisky from the King Car Distillery in Taiwan. The Kavalan Classic is a part of the Kavalan branded range of single malt whiskies produced by the distillery.

It is the flagship product of the King Car Distillery, and was first launched in the year 2008. It has since racked up a number of praiseworthy reviews, awards and medals from all over the world.

History of Kavalan Single Malt Whisky

The King Car Distillery was established in 2005, and belongs to the King Car conglomerate from Taiwan. The group have a number of business interests in categories such as beverages, health food, alcoholic beverages, frozen food, cleaning supplies, biotechnology and more.

The Kavalan brand of whiskies has been named after the indigenous tribe that originally inhabited the Kabalan plain region many centuries ago. The Kavalan people continue to live in, what is now called, the Yilan county region.

Other products from the King Car Distillery include Kavalan branded Rum, Gin, Liqueurs, and another brand of single malt whiskies known as Kavalan Solist.

The Kavalan Classic expression of single malt whisky was first launched in 2008. It has since caused quite a stir in the international whisky community by regularly finishing among the best whiskies of the world beating formidable opponents from different countries.

Making Process of Kavalan Classic Single Malt Whisky

The Kavalan Classic single malt carries no-age-statement, but it is clear that is a young whisky and has not been aged for many years. The difference in quality is apparent due to the tropical climate of Taiwan, which like India and other warmer, more humid countries, results in spirit maturing sooner than the colder climate of countries such as Scotland and Ireland.

The spirit has been matured in refill ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry barrels. Master Blender at the King Car Distillery, Ian Chang has worked hard to use the humid Taiwanese climate to their advantage according to the company.

Alcohol Percentage in Kavalan Classic Single Malt Whisky

The Kavalan Classic single malt whisky carries an alcohol content of 40% ABV, the standard permissible limit for most whisky brands worldwide.
