Passport Scotch

Passport Scotch is a blended Scotch whisky that was first released in the market during the 1960s, and was initially developed by the Chivas Brothers, now falling under the Seagram’s portfolio.

The Passport blend was developed with the intent of appealing to a wider global market for whisky drinkers who preferred a smoother, lighter drink. With this aim, it was developed with Speyside whiskies at its core, especially the Glen Keith Distillery, located near the historic Strathisla Distillery that supplies single malts to Chivas Regal.

History

Passport was introduced to the market in 1965 by Jimmy Lang, blender at Chivas Regal as a blended Scotch whisky that was different and far from the typical blended Scotch whiskies in the market.

The Glen Keith distillery formed a significant part of the Passport blend when the brand was first introduced, although it later switched to using source whiskies from other Speyside distilleries.

The brand has been established on the principles of challenging the conventional Scotch whiskies that are available in the Indian market as per the company.

It is packaged in a unique green-colored square bottle which makes the whisky easily recognizable.

Making Process

A blended Scotch whisky with an evidently prominent Speyside fingerprint, Passport is a blend of Highland malts and Lowland malts that lend a unique flavor profile to the drink.

The flavorful Highland whiskies mix perfectly with the subtler and lighter Lowland whiskies, making Passport an interesting Scotch whisky suitable for amateur whisky drinkers.

Alcohol Percentage

Passport Scotch carries an alcohol strength of 40% ABV as per the legal requirements for all Scotch whiskies.

Awards

Passport Scotch has won a few awards and medals at whisky tasting competitions such as;
