Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute

Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute

Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute is a blended Scotch whisky belonging to the luxury whiskies segment, and was first blended by the house of Chivas Brothers. The Royal Salute 62 carries an age-statement of 40 years, and has been named after the highest honour among British royal traditions, the 62 Gun Salute.

All the Royal Salute expressions, including the very first Royal Salute 21 Gun Salute were created, and released in honour of momentous Royal occasions such as the Queen’s coronation and more.

History of the Royal Salute 62

The very first Royal Salute blend, the Royal Salute 21 Gun Salute was created by Samuel Bronfman, then owner of Seagram’s, the corporation that owned the Chivas Regal brand. He commissioned the creation of a drink that was fit to be presented to Queen Elizabeth II herself, on the event of her coronation in 1953.

Royal Salute 21 was created using only the finest, and the most rare and vintage whiskies available at the time. It carried an age-statement of 21 Years, and was enclosed within a custom-made sapphire coloured porcelain decanter with golden overtones and embossing.

The Royal Salute line of ultra-premium whiskies redefined luxury and opulence in the world whiskies, and soon became a parallel tradition with major British Monarchy events in the future.

Limited edition releases and special bottlings were released over time to commemorate Royal occasions such as the Union of the Crown, the anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation and more.

The Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute was released in 2010 to commemorate the anniversary of the Queen’s coronation.

Some of the greatest success from the Royal Salute are Royal Salute 38, Royal Salute Eternal Reserve, Royal Salute Diamond Tribute and the Royal Salute 100 Cask Selection.

Making Process of the Royal Salute 62

The Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute blend is created with source whiskies that have been passed down by the four Master Blenders from generation to generation over the years since the first Royal Salute blend was created in 1953. Charles Julian, Allan Baillie, Jimmy Lang and Colin Scott are the Master Blenders whose work and perseverance is reflected in the Royal Salute 62 blend.

With an age-statement of 40 years, this blended Scotch whisky is a decadent, luscious and supreme Scotch whisky that is named after a British ceremonial honour that is reserved for only the highest and the most prestigious occasions.

The hand-selected source whiskies are blended by the Master Blender with meticulous personal attention, and the blended whisky is bottled into a magnificent crystal blue decanter made by Dartington.

Alcohol Percentage of the Royal Salute 62

The Royal Salute 62 blended Scotch whisky carries an alcohol strength of 43% ABV, slightly higher than the standard permissible limit for Scotch whiskies.
