History
The drink itself doesn’t have the same rich history as the distillery and its founder. Hiram Walker’s foray into the whiskey business dates back to 1857. He opened the Hiram Walker & Sons distillery in Windsor, Ontario. Since then, the company has witnessed many changes in partners and acquisitions, but they have retained the consistency in the quality of their bourbons over the century.

Nose
The tantalizing aromas are soft on the nose. Notes of musty, oaky bourbon comprise the initial notes. After the dram is allowed to breathe a little, one can smell hints of dark fruit, oily nuts, spice and light wood.
-
Palate
A slightly sweet beginning on the palate, but after a little swirl in the mouth, one can feel the bitterness of the wood and spice.
-
Finish
The finish is long, but smooth. It ends with a slight bitter and herbal taste.
-
Color
This bourbon has a dark golden color.
-
Taste
This higher-end bourbon strikes a good balance between sweet and bitter. It has a well-proportioned blend of bitterness of the spice and dark fruit, along with sweetness of the toffee. It offers a very consistent and smooth texture, which makes it more pleasing to drink.
-
Body
A full-bodied drink, replete with a rush of flavors.
